The 22nd annual installment of the beloved celebration

The annual ClydeFest arts festival is celebrating its 22nd year, taking place Sun., April 14 at Pittsboro’s Chatham Agricultural and Conference Center.

The festival, put on by the Chatham Arts Council, attracts children of all ages to a wide variety of activities, with more than 2,500 children attending in 2023.

Past festivals saw activities like face painting, giant bubbles, carnival games and hula hoops in addition to arts and crafts activities.

Live music and numerous food trucks will be on hand to keep everyone fed and entertained, and a number of local artists will have work on display.

“The program commissions Chatham County artists to make art — from tiny to medium-sized projects — and then to share that art in the public sphere,” announced a ClydeFest press release. “For this season’s commissions, CAC challenged local artists to reflect back to us who we were, who we are, and who we want to be here in Chatham. “The Locals,” on public display for the first time ever, will include commissioned works across various media, all inspired by real Chatham County residents, either past or present. This exhibit will be on display exclusively at ClydeFEST.”

The festival is free to attend, thanks in part to lead sponsor Connie Fenner State Farm, and will take place on April 14, rain or shine.
