Charles Ray Billings, Sr., 88, of Sanford, passed away on Wednesday, (05-30-2018) at his home.
A memorial service was held Saturday, (06-02-2018) at 2 p.m. at Shallow Well Church.
He was born in Rison, Arkansas to the late William Lee and Maude Parker Billings. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Lois Harris Billings; a daughter, Lois Gwen Billings; brothers, Jamie Lee Billings and Parker Billings. Mr. Billings was a graduate of Rison High School. After graduation, he served in the United States Army and later transferred to the Civil Service Headquarters located on Fort Bragg. He worked for Roberts Company and later, Carnes Company, where he retired after 29 years of service as a shipping supervisor. He was a member of Shallow Well Church where he served as a Deacon, Trustee and in many other capacities. He was a member of the Covenant Bible Class.
Charles is survived by his wife of 31 years, Mary Joyce Taylor Billings; daughter, Elizabeth (Lib) McBride of Sanford; sons, Charles Ray Billings, Jr. of Carthage, Ricky Lee Billings of Sanford; brothers, Clifton Billings of Rison, AR and W.M. Billings of Fordyce, AR; sisters, Alene Bell and Mary Frances Lewis, both of Rison, AR; six grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
