Shirley “Jack” Jackson Goodwin, 91, of Apex, died Sunday, September 16, 2018 at his home in Apex.
Jack was born November 29, 1926 in Chatham County to the late Newton Jackson Goodwin and Jeanette Jenks Goodwin. He was a graduate of Oscar Smith High School in
South Norfolk, VA and attended Elon University.
Jack worked at the naval shipyard in Portsmouth, VA and SUP Ships in Newport News, VA as a naval architect.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Elizabeth Goodwin; son, Joel Goodwin; brother, Carlton Goodwin; sister, Helen Renn; and son-in-law, Wally Dupont.
Jack is survived by his son, Jack Goodwin; daughter, Sheryl Dupont; and granddaughter, Megan Goodwin.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, October 7, 2018 at Olive Chapel Baptist Church. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
