SANFORD — Central Carolina Community College Volleyball Coach Bill Carter is looking forward to a strong season in 2019 with a roster that includes former Northwood standout Alexis Rolka from Moncure.

“The 2019 Cougar volleyball team will be a fun group to watch with an exciting brand of defense along with some explosive offensive players,” said Coach Carter. “The Cougars will need to be consistent and limit errors to be successful in the 2019 season. If they play as a unit and peak their skills at the same time, the 2019 Cougar volleyball team has an unlimited potential.”

Coach Carter is looking for the two captains, Taylor Rosser and Grace McAllister, to lead the Cougar volleyball team in all categories and provide strong and positive leadership.

The Cougars compete in the competitive National Junior College Athletic Association Region 10 Division III Conference.

“I am looking forward to a fun and competitive 2019 season and hope the Cougars will have an opportunity to compete in the Region 10 Division III Conference Tournament finals this year,” said Coach Carter.

Here is a list of this year’s CCCC volleyball roster for the 2019 season.

Jala Baldwin - Outside Hitter

Southern High School (Durham, NC)

Coach Carter: “Jala is very athletic with a big vertical that will help the Cougars offensively and defensively. Jala’s hustle play will boost the Cougars in 2019.”

Kristen Fletcher - Setter

Northwood Temple Academy (Fayetteville, NC)

Coach Carter: “Kristen is a very athletic setter who is also very aggressive form the service line. The Cougars should benefit from her experience as setter and her all-round playing potential.”

Jaloni Gadist - Outside Hitter/Defensive Specialist

Pine Forest High School (Fayetteville, NC)

Coach Carter: “Jaloni is an incredibly technical defensive player who will dig any ball with accuracy within her range. Jaloni also has the ability to play in any position on the court and has done this all to support the success of the team.”

Kyra Harrison - Libero/Defensive Specialist

Homeschool (Fuquay-Varina, NC)

Coach Carter: “Kyra is a very talented and aggressive defensive player with collegiate experience that will assist her in leading the Cougars in defensive categories throughout the Fall 2019 volleyball season.”

Aliyah Matthews - Setter/Defensive Specialist

Western Harnett High School (Sanford, NC)

Coach Carter: “Aliyah is a talented setter who will assist in leading the team on the offensive end. She is also an aggressive hitter and a talented passer. I look to Aliyah to continue to improve in all areas of her game throughout the course of the season.”

Grace McAllister - Outside Hitter/Setter

Homeschool (Raleigh, NC)

Coach Carter: “Grace is a positive, uplifting leader for the 2019 Cougar volleyball team. Grace’s role will be to lead and encourage the team while moving to the top of all stat categories throughout the season.”

Alexis Rolka - Middle Hitter

Northwood High School (Moncure, NC)

Coach Carter: “Alexis has a huge heart and an unrelenting will to improve and learn the game of volleyball. Look for Alexis to become a major offensive contributor later in the season as she continues to improve.”

Taylor Rosser - Outside Hitter

Western Harnett High School (Sanford, NC)

Coach Carter: “Taylor has the potential to lead the Cougars in all statistical categories and will bolster the Cougar attack with her powerful and skillful hitting.”

Breanna Self - Defensive Specialist

Lee County High School (Sanford, NC)

Coach Carter: “Breanna is a very consistent player who works hard every day and is constantly improving her serving and passing. She has a positive outlook and continues to increase her time on the court.”

Kayla Stange - Right Side/Middle Hitter

Overhills High School (Spring Lake, NC)

Coach Carter: “Kayla is a huge blocker for the Cougars and has already demonstrated the flexibility to play the right side and middle hitter position very well. Kayla is a good server and also has the ability to play six rotations at anytime if we need her to do so.”
