DURHAM — Northwood pounded out 16 hits on Thursday afternoon en route to a 14-0 stomping of Northern Durham in 3A Big Eight Conference action.

The Chargers scored a run in the first and then added eight in the second to blow the game wide open at 8-0 before finishing the Knights off with four more in the fourth and two in the fifth.

All told, nine Northwood batters collected a hit in the impressive win led by Hannah Weigle going 3-for-3 with three runs while Chloe Lineman was 3-for-4 with two runs and a triple.

Continuing the Chargers hit parade was Allison Coker going 2-for-3 with two runs, a pair of doubles and a walk, Caroline Dorshimer 2-for-3 with a run, Jamie Christensen 2-for-4 with a run, Erika Seils 1-for-3 with two runs, Lauren Davis 1-for-3 with a run and a double, and Chandler Adams 1-for-1 with a run and a pair of walks.

Weigle picked up the win on the mound for Northwood after working all five innings and completing a no-hitter with 10 strikeouts, just missing a shortened perfect game with one Charger error.
