FRANCES “POLLY” HARGROVE PHILLIPS

Frances “Polly” Hargrove Phillips, 88, of Siler City went to her heavenly home on Sunday, September 16, 2018.
Mrs. Phillips was a native of Chatham County and was born April 5, 1930, the daughter of Barney Ross and Lillie Blanche Buckner Hargrove.
Mrs. Phillips was a member of Rives Chapel Baptist Church, Joy of the Morning Sunday School Class, Gideon Auxiliary for wives, and a former Sunday School teacher. She was a self-employed cattle and chicken farmer working with her husband. She was better known as the “Queen of the Valley View Farm”.
Polly was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Rolfe R. Phillips; son, Rolfe Lee Phillips; grandson, Terry Phillips, and 6 six siblings.
She is survived by daughters, Elaine Phillips Dixon and husband Winford, Gloria Phillips Josey and husband Wayne; son, Robert Van Phillips and wife Linda; sisters, Peggy Moody and husband Bill, and Nancy Wilkie; eight grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren; and daughter-in-law, Sandra Phillips.
The family received friends Wednesday, September 19, 2018 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, 230 North Second Avenue, Siler City and other times at the family home.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m., Thursday, September 20, 2018 at Rives Chapel Baptist Church, 4338 Rives Chapel Church Road, Siler City with Dr. Tripp Foltz officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
