Edna Brafford Scotton, 85, of Coleridge, died Monday, June 8, 2020 at Green Valley Hospital in Greensboro.

There will be private graveside services, with Rev. Dwayne Lester, officiating.

Edna was a native of Brunswick County, a longtime resident of Coleridge and a graduate of Siler City High School. She was a member of Holly’s Chapel Pentecostal Holiness Church. Edna loved to teach Bible songs to the children of the church and sing with them. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hampton Scotton, her son, Richard Scotton, her parents, London Brafford and Annie Hewett Brafford, and brothers, L.H. Brafford and Chester Brafford.

Survivors include: a daughter, Jill Mitchell and husband Allen of Siler City; a son, Jay Scotton and wife Ronda of Coleridge; sisters, Shirley Johnson of Portsmouth, VA, Annie Faye Braxton of Pittsboro, Victoria Wade and husband Bill of Raleigh; and grandchildren, Jayson Scotton, Jaron Scotton, Julikaye Scotton, and Melissa Mitchell.
