Drake Powell’s tour of star-studded games and showcases will continue into the month of May.

The former Northwood star will play in the ninth annual Josh Level Classic at Grimsley High School in Greensboro on May 11. This is his third appearance at the event.

The Josh Level Classic is a national showcase event honoring the life of Josh Level, a basketball player at New Garden Friends School in Greensboro who died during a game in 2013. The event features some of North Carolina’s top high school talent and will consist of men’s and women’s games, the JLC Rising Stars game and a dunk contest.

Last year, Powell recorded 18 points and six rebounds in the Josh level Classic, and he has continued to play well in showcase games this year.

In the McDonalds All-American game on April 2, Powell posted four rebounds and two steals, and he played exceptional defense to help the East complete the comeback win.

Weeks later in the Jordan Brand Classic, Powell let his offensive game do most of the talking, scoring 13 points on an 86% shooting clip.
