Betty Jean (Brower) Lewis, age 89, of Asheboro, died Saturday, August 29, 2020, at Trinity Glenn, in Winston-Salem.

Ms. Lewis was in Coleridge, the daughter of Clay Cecil Brower and Ardena Yow Brower. She was a Chatham County resident for many years and a member of Moon’s Chapel Baptist Church, where she was the music director. Known for her operatic voice, she regularly performed for civic and religious events throughout the community. She resided the remainder of her life in Asheboro, where she was a member of Central United Methodist church. Ms. Lewis was preceded in death by her son, Clay Christopher Everhart.

She is survived by her daughters, Constance “Connie” Everhart Widenhouse and husband Gordon of Chapel Hill, and Lori Jean Everhart of Washington, DC; sisters, Ellen Maki of Navarre, Fla. and Faedene Brower of Asheboro; grandchildren, Christopher Wolfe and wife Jess Arble of Alexandria, Va., Lindsey Decker and husband Matt of Raleigh, Sherburne Widenhouse of Raleigh; and four great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
