Vernelle Douglas Jones, 91, of Sanford, passed away on January 19, 2020.
The family received friends from 2 p.m. to funeral hour on Wednesday, January 22, 2020 at Shallow Well Church. The funeral began at 4 p.m. Burial was after the service at Shallow Well.
Vernelle worked at Sears for over 20 years until she retired. Vernelle volunteered for several years at Hospice, and also delivered recordings of the Shallow Well Church services to the home-bound members. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hurley Winiford Jones, and a son, Michael D. Jones.
She is survived by daughters, Deborah Jones Suggs, LaVerne Jones Maddox; sons, Mark DeWayne Jones, all of Sanford, and Kelly Bruce Jones of Moncure; ten grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
