Behind three baskets by Gabi Greene, the Lady Eagles raced out to an 11-0 lead over the first five-and-a-half minutes of play before a Baldwin layup with 32.8 seconds remaining in the first quarter drew the Lady Knights within nine after one period.

Bre Brooks, Barker and Mia Leonard combined for all of Uwharrie Charter Academy’s points in the second stanza as the visitors from Asheboro outscored Chatham Charter 16-4 in the frame to open up a 27-6 bulge at intermission.

Beeson’s driving layup from the right wing with 4:53 to go in the third quarter allowed the Lady Eagles to equal their biggest margin of the evening at 36-8 prior to the Lady Knights using back-to-back hoops by Morgan Lineberry plus buckets by Rebecca McGaughnea and Baldwin to close the gap to 36-16 entering the final period.

Molly Teel’s layup with 3:10 left in the contest capped a 6-0 Lady Eagles’ run to begin the fourth stanza and Chatham Charter never got closer than 22 in the time remaining.
