When I arrived at Mary Alice’s several weeks ago I was greeted by the wonderful aroma of homemade cookies. Caroline was baking and let me sample. The cookies were delicious and I loved that her recipe that she sound on the internet called them Giggling Drawings. I am planning to make these in the near future even though they don’t contain any nuts or chocolate chips.

SNICKER DOODLES
AKA GIGGLING DRAWINGS
1/2 cup butter, softened
1/2 cup shortening
1 1/2 cups sugar
2 eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons cream of tartar
1 teaspoon baking sofa
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons sugar
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon

Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
Cream together butter, shortening, 1 1/2 cups sugar, eggs and the vanilla. Mix flour, cream of tartar, soda and salt. Blend into creamed mixture. Shape dough by rounded spoonfuls into balls.
Mix the 2 tablespoons sugar and the cinnamon. Roll the balls of dough in this mixture. Place 2 inches apart on ungreased baking sheets.
Bake 8 to 10 minutes, or until set but not too hard. Remove immediately from the baking sheets.
