SILER CITY — The Town of Siler City has a new head honcho.

Roy Lynch, the current Finance Director and Interim Town Manager, was announced as the new permanent Town Manager on Friday after what a town press release called "a rigorous hiring process which included several exceptional candidates for this position."

“I am deeply humbled and honored to be afforded the opportunity to serve the Town of Siler City in this capacity," Lynch said in the release. "I appreciate the confidence that Mayor (John) Grimes and the Board of Commissioners have in me and it’s my steadfast commitment to remain an effective team leader and continue to build on the success of those dedicated professionals who have come before me in service to their community.”

According to the press release, Lynch started his tenure as the Finance Director in June 2017. He had worked as the Town Manager for the Town of Liberty for the previous five years after a career in aviation. Lynch has a bachelor's degree from UNC-Greensboro and associate's degree from Guilford Technical Community College.

Lynch fills the hole left by Bryan Thompson, who left the position on July 14 to become the Assistant County Manager for Chatham County.

In the press release, Grimes said that the town is "extremely pleased to have someone of Roy's professionalism, capabilities and experience as our next town manager."
