Rochelle Buckner Moon, 95, of Snow Camp left her earthly home to spend eternity in heaven with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on September 17, 2018  at her home.
She was born in Siler City on July 10, 1923 to the late Herbert H. Buckner, Sr. and Leola Johnson Buckner.  She graduated in 1940 from Silk Hope High School.  She married in 1941 and after her children started school, Rochelle attended and graduated from University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1966.  She pursued her passion as an elementary school librarian in Chatham County Schools until 1992 and continued to work part-time in the library until 1996.  She was a faithful member of Plainfield Friends Church where she served as elder, librarian, a member of Ellen Payne Missionary Society, and on the flower committee.  She was a long-time member of Alpha Delta Kappa, an international honorary sorority for women educators.  She impacted the lives of all she came in contact with through her sweet Christian spirit and genuine love for everyone.  She shared a mutual loving relationship with the children in her church.
In addition to her parents, Rochelle was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Howard C. Moon; brother, Herbert H. Buckner, Jr.; and son-in-law, Turner Hargrove.
She is survived by her son, Gary Moon of Snow Camp; daughter, Cheryl M. Hargrove of Siler City; grandson, Turner Hargrove, Jr. and wife Pam; granddaughter, Aprille M. Loflin and husband Matt; great-grandchildren Luke and Ashton Hargrove and Maxwell, Merritt and Worthington Loflin; sister-in-law, Ethel M. Buckner; and daughter-in-law, Bonnie T. Moon.
The family expresses their gratitude to her beloved caregivers, Deborah, Megan, Vivian, Frances, Jessie, Nancy, Kathy, and Barbara.
Friends were received at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home in Siler City on Thursday, September 20, 2018 from 6 to 8 p.m. and other times at the home of her daughter.
Funeral service was held at Plainfield Friends Church on Friday, September 21, 2018 at 3 p.m. with Pastor Wayne Lamb officiating.
