REV. TRAVIS W. OWEN

Rev. Travis W.  Owen, 91, of Siler City died Friday, October 19, 2018 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center, Wilmington.
Rev. Owen was born in Person County on June 10, 1927 the son of Jesse Owen and Nola (Smart) Owen.  Travis was a US Navy Veteran of WWII and a retired Methodist Minister with 45 years of dedicated service.
He was active in the Eastern North Carolina Methodist Conference.  Travis was an humble, caring, compassionate man, who always had time for anyone in need, no matter the problem or time of day.  He continued his service through his retirement, assisting in funerals and services of worship.
Rev. Owen was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years Margaret Canada Owen; his parents; brothers, James and Tom Owen; and sisters, Gertrude Sanders, Nell Allen, and Elizabeth Owen.
He is survived by daughter, LaJeanne O. Pierce and husband Sandy of Siler City; son, T. Carl Owen and wife June of Maple Hill, NC; sisters, Betty Ann Hicks, Claudia Owen, and Florence Kidd, all of Roxboro, NC; and grandson, Travis C. Owen.
A memorial service was held Monday, October 22, 2018 at 1 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church of Siler City, 1101 West Raleigh Street with Rev. Carl Belcher and Rev. Julian Aldridge officiating.  The family received friends in the church fellowship hall following the service.
