Rams pull away from Chargers

PITTSBORO — Despite a gritty effort Tuesday night in rainy Pittsboro, the Northwood girls lacrosse team dropped a hard-fought 12-8 decision to Roseville.

The Chargers remained winless at 0-9, but the improvement continued to show.

Kendall Laberge continued an outstanding freshman campaign with five goals while freshman Jenna Konowitz added three for the locals.

In the field, Konowitz collected eight ground balls and an interception while Laberge chipped in eight ground balls.

Kennedy Cox added three ground balls while Kaya Hill, Gwen Hoeg, and Julia Colen posted two ground balls.

Roseville (3-9) was led by six goals and an assist from Crystin Williams while Eva Grossman, Naomi Lockamy, Asia Hicks, Haley Shattuck, Ayanna Walker and Fatima Kakay chipped in one goal apiece.

Williams also had seven ground balls and an interception in the field for the Rams who closed the night with five interceptions.
