Regina Richardson, a Pittsboro resident, was selected from among more than 77 million entries as the winner of HGTV’s Urban Oasis Giveaway. The prize package is valued at more than $1.3 million and includes more than includes a newly built and furnished home, a new Mercedes-Benz C-Class and $50,000 from Ally.

“I’m still in shock,” Richardson said. “It’s unreal. A dream that came true for me and my family.”

Richardson, a retired research assistant lives with her high school sweetheart and husband of 42 years. She said she’s entered similar HGTV giveaways for two decades.

“I’ve been entering since 2003,” she said. “I thought, ‘What do I have to lose?’”

The home was designed by Tennessee architect Turner Binkley, and constructed by the Mitchell Builders Group with interior design by Brian Patrick Flynn.

For more than 17 years, Richardson has entered the daily home giveaways, and her persistence paid off when she was selected from the most entered Urban Oasis contest in HGTV history.

Last week, Flynn surprised Richardson with the news about her upcoming move to the new space in Nashville.

“At first I thought [my daughter] had arranged a video for my birthday. But I knew instantly when I saw Brian [Flynn’s] face,” Regina said. “It was the perfect situation.”
