JANE CLARK BURKE

Jane Clark Burke, 81, of Siler City passed away Thursday, June 27, 2019 at Laurels of Chatham in Pittsboro.

A memorial service was held Sunday, June 30, 2019 at Pleasant Hill Methodist Church with Rev. Ray Gooch officiating.

Jane was born November 22, 1937, the daughter of Lacy and Sue C. Clark. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, W.F. Burke; two sons, Richard Bowers, Gregory Bowers; and brother, Gilbert Clark. She had been employed by Glendale Hosiery.

Survivors include a step-daughter, Cindy Bray; and two step-grandchildren.

JOHNNIE HERMAN HARRINGTON

Johnnie Herman Harrington, 92, of Fuquay Varina, died Monday, June 24, 2019 at his home.

A funeral service was held Thursday, June 27, 2019 at 3 p.m. at Jonesboro United Methodist Church with Rev. Trent Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Buffalo Cemetery.

He was born in Lee County on July 7, 1926 to the late Cloveus May Harrington and Irene Walker Harrington. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Clara Mae Harrington Badgett and brothers, Albert (Pete) Harrington and Ray Harrington. Johnnie was a member of Jonesboro United Methodist Church for over 85 years. He retired as an Inspector with the Department of Transportation after 43 years of service and was a recipient of the Order of the Long Leaf Pine because of his exemplary service to the State of North Carolina.

Johnnie is survived by his wife of 71 years, Rosella Todd Harrington; son, Troy Allen Harrington of Durham; daughter, Sarah Harrington Mitchell of Willow Spring; and one grandchild.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Jonesboro United Methodist Church, 407 W. Main Street, Sanford, NC 27332.

RICHARD 'RICHIE' DWAYNE BROWER

Richard Dwayne Brower, 52, of Siler City, died Tuesday, June 25, 2019 at his residence.

The memorial-visitation was held from 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, July 2, 2019 at the First Wesleyan Church, Siler City.

Richie was a lifelong resident of Chatham county and a 1985 graduate of Eastern Randolph High School. He was preceded in death by his parents, Emmett and Dorothy Lineberry Brower.

Survivors include his wife, Patricia Brower of the home; sister, Doloris Eberhart of Greensboro; brothers, Perry Brower of Siler City, Aubrey Brower of Franklinville; and step-daughter, Heather Glasgow of Ramseur.

NELLIE LEE FORE GOINS

Nellie Lee Fore Goins, 94, of Sanford, passed away Thursday, June 27, 2019 at Westfield Rehabilitation & Health Center.

A graveside service was held at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 30, 2019 at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church Cemetery.

Mrs. Goins was born in Lee County on July 5, 1924 to the late Emory and Lou Etta Coble Fore. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Jean Kirk; one great-grandson; two sisters and four brothers. Nellie worked for many years at Singer Furniture Company.

Survivors include three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren; and brother, Roy Wayne Fore of Church Hill, TN.

MARY THELMA SANDERS GOODMAN

Mary Thelma Sanders Goodman, 92, of Pittsboro, died Sunday, June 30, 2019 at the UNC Hospice House.

The family will receive friends Friday, July 5, 2019 from 10 a.m. to 11 at Solid Rock Baptist Church. The funeral service will follow at 11 with Pastor Jerry Sanders presiding. Burial will be at Bynum United Methodist Church cemetery.

Mary was born October 14,1926 in Chatham County, to the late Clen Sanders and Laura Hearne Sanders. She was also preceded in death by her husband David “Dave” Goodman, and eight brothers, Carden, Bim, Bernice, Ernest, John, Basil, Clem, and Lester.

Surviving relatives include daughters, Peggy Gilmore of Chapel Hill, Helen Waldeck of Pittsboro, Carolyn Carson of Creedmoor; son, Jimmy Goodman of Pittsboro; ten grandchildren,17 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; sisters, Alma Arnold and Christine Mitchell, both of Pittsboro.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for memorial contributions to be made in her memory to UNC Hospice, P.O. Box 1077, Pittsboro, NC 27312 or Solid Rock Baptist Church, 3909 US 64 West, Pittsboro, NC 27312.

Anyone wishing to provide food to the family should take it to Solid Rock Baptist Church on Wednesday, July 3 from 3 p.m. to 5.
