ALBERT PRESTON MADDOX

Albert (Shorty) Preston Maddox, age 89, of Sanford passed away on Wednesday, May 15, 2019.

A funeral service was held on Friday, May 17, 2019 at 3:30 p.m. at Edgewood Presbyterian Church with Dr. William Hayes officiating. Burial followed in Shallow Well Cemetery.

Albert was born in Lee County, the son of the late Bertis and Leadie Yarborough Maddox. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by twelve half-brothers and sisters; brothers, Graden Maddox, Delma Maddox, and one sister, Sadie Phelps. He retired from Trion.

Survivors include his wife, Martha Mimms Maddox; daughter, Sylvia Fajgenbaum; and two grandchildren.

JIMMY EUGENE ELIXSON

Jimmy Eugene Elixson, 81, of Sanford, passed away on Saturday, May 18, 2019 at his home.

A funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Monday, May 20, 2019 in the Chapel of Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home with burial following in Bynum UMC Cemetery in Bynum.

He was born in Lunenburg County, Virginia on November 9, 1937 to the late James Thomas Elixson and Fronnie Ann Eubanks. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Junior Elixson and a brother, Kenneth Elixson. Jimmy worked for many years for the City of Pittsboro.

He is survived by his wife, Gaynell; son, John Elixson of Sanford; daughters, Susan McNeill and Kay Campbell, both of Pittsboro; step-sons, Billy Beal of Sanford, Earl Beal of Siler City, Phillip Beal of Raeford; step-daughter, Kathy Lemons of Sanford; brother, Henry Elixson of Bear Creek; sisters, Mary Sparks of Sanford, Ann Harris and Carolyn Ellis, both of Siler City; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

LARRY VENABLE HALL

Larry Venable Hall, 75, of Sanford, passed away on Sunday, May 19, 2019 at First Health Hospice House in Moore County.

The funeral service was held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, May 21, 2019 at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home in the Chapel. Burial will follow in Lemon Springs UMC Cemetery.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Connie Hall; parents, Lacy and Mildred Hall; brothers, Robert and Buddy Mack Hall. Larry was born in Lee County, on March 21, 1944. He worked for Halls Carpet Outlet.

He is survived by his son, Kenneth Lynn Hall of Spring Lake; daughters, Teresa Hall Bloom and Joye Hall Thomas, both of Sanford; five grandchildren; sisters: Patsy McEvers, Carolyn Holmes, Christine Cox, all of Sanford, and Brenda Fletcher of Winterville.

MYRTLE KETNER WADDELL

Myrtle Ketner Waddell, 94, of Sanford, passed away on Friday, May 17, 2019, at home.

A Going Home celebration was held at11 a.m. at Wayside Evangelical Church on Tuesday, May 21, 2019. Burial followed at Lee Memory Gardens.

Myrtle was born in Rowan County on April 17, 1925 to C. A. and Mary Lee Troutman Ketner. She worked at Woolworth’s Department Store and Cannon Mills in Kannapolis. Myrtle retired from Coty in Sanford. Myrtle was a founding member of Wayside Evangelical Church where she served as Elder. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Raleigh Waddell; her parents; two brothers, Clyde (infant) and Roy Ketner; two sisters, Ruth Caldwell and Cleo Glenn.

Survivors include her brother, Lloyd Ketner of Kannapolis, sister, Mildred Karriker of Greenville; daughters, Judith Cress of Sanford, Marsha Waddell of Apex; four grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 18, 2019 at Haw River Missionary Baptist Church with interment following in the church cemetery.

The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 19, 2019 at Blandonia Presbyterian Church in Sanford. Interment followed at Tempting Congregational Church.
