Posted

Northwood won 31-7 on the road Friday night against Western Harnett, led by a dominant performance from the Chargers defense.

Northwood improved to 1-3 with the win, while Western Harnett fell to 2-2.

After being outscored 157-31 in three losses to begin the season, the Chargers were impressive defensively, totaling 19 tackles for loss and 10 sacks, stifling the Eagles’ offense. Northwood also matched its scoring output from the first three games combined led by two first quarter rushing touchdowns from Aaron Ross. The senior tailback finished with 22 carries for 97 yards. The Chargers also got a punt return touchdown from Jalen Mcafee-Marion to race out to a 21-7 lead at the half.

Northwood would round out the scoring with a field goal and a Jack Thompson touchdown pass to Mcafee-Marion to earn head coach Cullen Homolka his first Chargers win.
