Moore, Greensboro take eighth in links opener

BUENA VISTA, Va. — The Greensboro College women’s golf team opened their 2019-20 season with an eighth-place finish at the 2019 Knights Invitational Golf Tournament, hosted by Southern Virginia University at the par-72 Lexington Golf and Country Club.

Former Chatham Central star Matti Moore closed the event with a 110 which earned 49th overall.

Greensboro was led by Alicia Dunlap, who finished in a tie for 28th with a 95. while Mary Lyle Frye had a 112, Hailey Preslar a 117, and Lakyn Atwood a 124.

“This was a learning experience for us as it was the first tournament of the season and we were also playing with three new members,” Moore said. “We played prettly well as a team and learned a lot.”

Savannah Scott of Bridgewater College won the event with a 74

The Pride women will return to action on Sept. 23 when they open the two-day Bridgewater Invitational Golf Tournament at Lakeview Golf Course.
