Mary Lou Littleton of Pittsboro, passed on Friday, (12-14-2018) at her home.
A service to honor her life and memory will be held Friday, (01-11-2019)from 2 to 5 p.m.at Donaldson Funeral Home in Pittsboro. A Memorial Service will be held at Lowery’s Funeral Home in Athens, PA on Thursday, (06-20-2019) from 3 to 5 p.m.
Mary Lou was born in Waverly, NY in July, 1939, the daughter of Ralph and Mary Louise Goble of Athens, PA. She worked at the Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, PA for 16 years, moving from Staff X-ray Technologist to Chief Technologist. She was a Certified Radiologic Technologist and had an Associate in Science Degree from Mansfield University, Mansfield, PA. She then worked for 18 years at the University of South Alabama, Dept. of Radiology, College of Medicine, first as an X-ray Technologist and Radiologic Research Assistant. After earning a Bachelor Degree and a Master of Business Administration Degree there, she was appointed to Assistant Professor of Radiology.
She moved to North Carolina in 2011 to be near her family.
Mary Lou was predeceased by her parents and husband, Dr. Jesse Talbot Littleton III; her daughter, Terry Ann Durizch and sister, Georgia Kay Alteri.
She is survived by her siblings, John Goble of Painted Post, NY and Jean Durrand of Pensacola, FL; her son, John Durizch of Pittsboro; six grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren; five stepchildren, Christine Littleton Ilgen, Joanne Littleton, James Littleton, Robert Littleton, and Denise Littleton; and several step-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks to please donate to the Willow Oak Montessori Foundation.
