Margaret B. Pollard powers to Chatham boys, girls middle school XC titles

SILER CITY — The Margaret B. Pollard Middle School boys and girls cross country teams rang in the New Year by capturing the 2019 Chatham County Schools Middle School Cross Country Championships at Jordan-Matthews High School.

Margaret Pollard Middle School took the titles over runner-up Horton Middle School in both events. Both the girls and boys teams from Horton Middle School were runner-ups.

In the girls’ race, Alison McKeithan of Pollard captured the individual title to get past second place finisher Caroline Bartee, also of Pollard. Rounding finishers who all earned All-Conference honors were Katie Leonard of Moncure in third, Isabella Rogers of Pollard in fourth, Bella Ekeler of Pollard in fifth, Caroline Austin of Bonlee in sixth, and Caitlin Erman of Pollard in seventh.

In boys’ action, it was Seth Gilliland of J.S. Waters speeding to the title past runner-up Gabe Rogers of Pollard. Rounding out the All-Conference performers were Morgan Turner of Pollard in third, Kolton Phillips of Bonlee in fourth, Jake Leighton of Horton in fifth, Ty Willoughby of Pollard in sixth, and Tait Wilson of Pollard in seventh.
