John Walton Haywood, 75, of Chapel Hill, N.C., passed away January 7, 2022, in his home from complications of Lewy Body Dementia.

Walton was born October 21, 1946, growing up in Star, N.C., the son of Earl and Madie (Melton). Walton is survived by his wife of 52 years, Marion (Meyers), daughter Melanie (Ambar Castillo), and two granddaughters, Elena and Vera. He was preceded in death by his parents and several beloved dogs. He was a great lover of the outdoors, particularly bird watching and identifying every plant along the trail. If you see a walking stick leaning against a tree, know Walton was there.

A celebration of life will be planned for a later date.
