Victoria Barlow of Siler City won the “Reader’s Choice” award, which was determined through a voting process on the News + Record’s Facebook page. Her piece received a total of 114 likes on Facebook and 24 shares. She wanted her artwork to pay tribute to the first responders in her community during this time, including her own mother, who is a volunteer firefighter/paramedic and a full-time 911 telecommunicator.
