Gerald “Jerry” Stitt, 88, of Broadway, died Sunday, November 7, 2021, at Womack Army Medical Center at Fort Bragg.
Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, November 13, 2021, at the Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Broadway with Rev. Garland Smith officiating. Burial with military honors will be held on Tuesday, November 16, 2021, at 3 p.m. at Peninsula Memorial Park in Newport News, Virginia.
He was born on May 3, 1933, son of the late Earnest and Rosalie Burns Stitt. He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Debra Wilson and sister Pam Atkins. Jerry was retired from the United States Air Force. He also was a regional operations manager with McDonald’s Corporation as well H&K Dallas.
Surviving is his wife, Penny Cochran Stitt, of the home; daughters, Shaness Farrell of Princeton, N.J., Andree Robinson of Whitter, N.C., and Jeri Johnson of Dallas, Texas; son, Randall Stitt of Atlanta, Georgia; sisters, Andrea Amerson of Woodstock, Georgia, Debbie Bryant of Gaylesville, Alabama; brother, Jack Stitt of Arkansas; nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be made to Smith Funeral Home, P.O. Box 370, Broadway, N.C. 27505 to assist with funeral expenses.
