Esther Gertrude Wheeler Shirey, 68, of Siler City died Tuesday, March 3, 2020 at UNC Hospitals of Hillsborough.
The funeral was held Saturday, March 7, 2020 at 2 p.m. at New Salem Baptist Church with Rev. Chris Gambos officiating. Burial was at Hanks Chapel United Church of Christ Cemetery.
Mrs. Shirey was born in Chatham County on August 19, 1951, the daughter of Nelson and Fannie (Eubanks) Wheeler. She was a member of New Salem Baptist Church of Pittsboro and retired from Harris Teeter as a cashier.
She is survived by her husband, William Allen Shirey; daughters, Amy Seils of Pittsboro, Amanda MacDonald of Graham, Denise Shelton of Siler City; one son, George Allen Shirey of Valdosta, GA; sisters, Ava Brower of Staley, Ann Wright of Pittsboro; and eight grandchildren.
