Elder Cora Lee McIver, 92, of Bear Creek, NC departed this earthly world at her residence to enter her eternal home on November 5, 2018.
Elder McIver was born December 7, 1925 in Chatham County, the daughter of Robert Marsh and Emma Ward Marsh.
She was the Pastor of Mt. Calvary Holy Church in Siler City for 39 years. She was the epitome of a virtuous woman. Praise was a powerful tool for her which included making a joyful noise by beating her cymbals and stomping her feet. She loved to attend church conventions and convocations. She loved her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved cooking for them and helping them with their homework.
She was formerly employed by Chatham County Council on Aging as a Nurse’s Aide. She was a member and served as Assistant Secretary of the Chatham County Ministerial Alliance for many years and was a faithful member of the Walk By Faith Prayer Line Ministry.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Philmore McIver, her parents and a host of brothers and sisters. She is survived by her son, Glen Douglas McIver (Annie Jean McIver) and daughter Philmer Jean Brooks (late James Brooks, Jr.), six grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren; one sister Hazel Marsh, sister-in- laws Hattie Marsh and Claretta McMillian; brother-in- law James McIver; and a host of nieces and nephews.
The funeral was held Saturday, November 10, 2018 at 1 p.m. at First Pentecostal Church in Asheboro, NC with Elder Carolyn Woodle officiating.
Burial was at Centennial AME Zion Church in Bear Creek, NC. Professional services were entrusted to Knotts and Sons, Siler City, NC.
