DAVID KEITH McLAUGHLIN, JR.

Mr. David Keith McLaughlin, Jr., 73, of Winston-Salem passed away Sunday, August 26, 2018 at Forsyth Medical Center.
David was born in Pickens County, South Carolina to the late David Keith McLaughlin, Sr. and Elizabeth Ligon McLaughlin on August 3, 1945. David was known to most as “DK”.  He grew up in Siler City, NC and graduated from Jordan-Matthews High School in 1963.   His career as a Disc Jockey began in Siler City at WNCA.  In Asheboro, he was on WGWR as “D Baby K”.  He was most recently known as “Daddy DooWop” on WSNC at Winston Salem State University. In 1983, he was manager of the year for the nation at ATC,  a subsidiary of Time Inc.
DK was an active member in the community serving on the mental health board for Randolph County.  He was a member of the Active Young Republican Party and Rotary Club as well.  He would stay with Time Warner Cable until he retired in 2009 as Vice President of Government Relations for the Greensboro Division. DK was an unforgettable man who never met a stranger.  A man who lived larger than life and impacted so many.  A presence that will truly be missed, but forever be felt.
Mr. McLaughlin is survived by his wife Jan Northup McLaughlin; children, David Keith McLaughlin III (Chelsea); Brandon Watson (Heather) and Justin Watson; grandchildren, Cali Ann, Carter and Hadley Watson; brother, Tom McLaughlin (Cynde); sister, Zo Ann Adams (Sam).
A private family celebration of life will be held at a later date.
