Central Carolina Community College has its new president.

Pending approval by the State Board of Community College, Lisa M. Chapman will be the sixth president of CCCC, which has campuses in Chatham, Harnett and Lee counties. Chapman will succeed T. Eston Marchant, who is retiring on April 1.

"On behalf of the CCCC Board of Trustees, we are excited to welcome Dr. Chapman as CCCC’s sixth president, pending State Board of Community Colleges approval," Julian Philpott, chairperson of the CCCC Board of Trustees, said in a statement released Tuesday. "We are confident that Dr. Chapman will do an outstanding job in leading our college and continuing our mission of serving as a catalyst for individual, community, and economic development by empowerment through accessible lifelong learning."

Chapman is currently the senior vice president/chief academic officer at the North Carolina Community College System Office in Raleigh. She formerly served as executive vice president/chief academic officer and vice president of academic affairs/chief academic officer at CCCC.

Chapman beat out a list of candidates that included Lee County Manager John Crumpton and current CCCC Vice President of Learning & Workforce and Development and Chief Academic Officer Brian Merritt.
