Authorities launched a water search and a search of the lake's shoreline for a 15-year-old male who went missing after encountering mechanical problems with a jet ski while on the lake.

Assisting the Sheriff's Office are members of N.C. Wildlife Resources,  N.C. Highway Patrol, North Chatham Fire Department, Moncure Fire Department and FirstHealth EMS.

"This is a difficult time for the family, especially not knowing what happened," said Sheriff Mike Roberson. "We have multiple resources working on this and we're doing everything we can to locate the missing teenager and provide his family with answers."
