The North Carolina School Public Relations Association (NCSPRA) has honored Chatham County Schools for excellence in communications. CCS earned a total of 11 Blue Ribbon Awards for outstanding and effective communication. NCSPRA presented the awards during a special ceremony held in High Point on Feb. 10, 2023.

CCS earned the highest honor in the marketing category, being named Best of the Best of all entries for the One Chatham Strategic Plan campaign.

“The One Chatham Strategic Plan was aesthetically pleasing and a well-thought-out campaign,” one of the judges said in their remarks. “I love how they incorporated the many facets of not only the district but the community as well. The diversity and inclusion of all stakeholders represented throughout the campaign were very refreshing.  The aesthetics and messaging throughout made this a sure Best of the Best in their category.”

The district received three Gold Awards, one each in the marketing, excellence in writing and digital media engagement categories. The communications team for the district also received seven silver awards in the following categories: digital media engagement (4), electronic media, photography and special events and programs. CCS was awarded one bronze award in the excellence in writing category.

“I am extremely proud of Gladys Alvarez, Emily Emrick and Nancy Wykle, who comprise our communications team,” said Superintendent Dr. Anthony Jackson. “They have done an excellent job helping share Chatham County Schools’ story with the community in such professional and creative ways. I am particularly thrilled with the honor they received for One Chatham.”

NCSPRA recognizes outstanding communications through its Blue Ribbon Awards program each year.  CCS was one of 38 school districts statewide to receive a Blue Ribbon Award.

“We were grateful to have the opportunity to showcase our work and get feedback from our peers,” said Nancy Wykle, Chatham County Schools Public Information Officer. “The district is really fortunate to have the talents Emily and Gladys bring. It’s elevated our ability to develop communications to a whole new level.”
