PITTSBORO — The first day of class for Chatham County Schools students for the 2022-2023 school year will be Monday, Aug. 29.
“We are excited about the 2022-2023 school year,” said Superintendent Dr. Anthony Jackson. “Every year, we and our students get a fresh start full of promise. This is going to be a really outstanding year for our students, families and staff.”
Families can find a variety of resources to help prepare them for the coming academic year in our Back-to-School toolkit, available here. In addition, visit your student’s school website for upcoming events, including Open Houses, PTA meetings and more.
CCS also wants to remind drivers to watch for students walking to school or waiting at bus stops. Vehicles should obey all laws regarding when to stop for a school bus.
“Please be aware that students may be new to bus routines and to keep an eye out for students crossing streets or standing at roadside bus stops,” Dr. Jackson said.
To assist families of bus riders this year, CCS has added the Here Comes the Bus app to our services. This app will allow families to track their student’s bus in real time and receive notifications about when the bus is entering or exiting the neighborhood at pickup or dropoff. “We are ready for this school year to get underway, and provide our students with excellent opportunities in academics, the arts and athletics,” Dr. Jackson said. “I am really looking forward to seeing where the journey takes our students and staff this year.”
